HPU Men’s Soccer’s Meyer Selected 43rd Overall in MLS SuperDraft by New England

High Point, N.C. – High Point University men’s soccer redshirt senior Keegan Meyer was selected in the second round (43rd overall) by the New England Revolution in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday afternoon (Jan 9). Meyer becomes the fifth Panther to be drafted into the MLS and the first to be selected in the SuperDraft.

Meyer was a key cog in his time with High Point, starting in 74 matches for the Panthers. The Silver Spring, Md. native leaves HPU holding the program record for shutouts with 27. He was first team Big South All-Conference three times (2017, 2018, 2019), two United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and an NCCSIA ALL-State selection.

Meyer joins Fejiro Okiomah, Karo Okiomah, Scottie Rojo and Shawn Sloan (all selected in supplemental rounds) as Panthers to be drafted into the MLS. Sloan was the most recent HPU alum to be drafted, where he was selected as the 66th overall pick in the 2013 supplemental draft.
