Northern Guilford Nighthawk boys over Kernodle on Monday…
It was a BIG night for the whole Northern Guilford Nighthawk team that contributed to the WIN tonight. Great coaching by Coach Davis and Kendall to pull away for the win to advance Northern’s record to 5-1. Northern’s only loss was by 3 points. Next game Thursday versus Northwest Guilford.

Here are where our scores begin and the scores are coming in a little bit late since for the game we attended today, Allen at Guilford Middle, Allen’s bus broke down on the way to the game, and it put the start of the games, about an hour behind….As the old coach in waiting used to say, “Basketball is Basketball”….

Finals from Western Guilford Middle School and I keep on wanting to call them Guilford Middle School, but this is what we have for you…..
Allen Middle boys 51, Western Guilford Middle 41
Western Guilford Middle School girls 22, Allen Middle 10
from the boys game:End of 1st Q:Allen 19, Western Guilford 10…Halftime:Allen 37, WG 17…End of 3rd Q:Allen 41, WG 31…Final:Allen 51, WG 41
Richard Goods, the 6’4 center/post for Allen had 17 points in the first quarter for the Allen Vikings…Goods finished the game with 22 points for Allen…Mande had 14 points for Allen and might have been there overall strongest player on the court today….Jeter chipped in 6 points for Allen, Gray had five pts., and Mitchell had 2 points…
For Western Guilford you had Bass with 19 points, Peguese had 7, Downey and Neely had 4 each and Battle had one point for the WG Tigers…

Coach Murray from Allen said his team played very good team defense and like we saw/said today, his team got off to a very good start, led by Goods early…In the second half, Allen let up on their intensity and as WG coach Parker was saying in the post game, her team struggle early, but Coach Parker said she was very proud of the way her boys played in the second half..Coach Murray from Allen said his team is now (3-2) overall and (3-0) in the conference….Coach Murray said his top guards are Jeter, Chambers and Gray, while Coach Murray said Mande can be a “beast”, he is very athletic and Coach Murray said Goods has to live more in the lane and don’t fall in love with his 3-point shoots…Goods is working on his footwork and that will help him get his timing down, and make him a better player before he arrives at Smith next year…Goods currently an eighth-grader at Allen Middle…

Coach Parker said she only has four experienced players on her team this season and right now the Western boys are (1-4/0-4)…One of her better shooters, Mann, has two of his fingers injured and that has been effecting his shooting….Next up again for Western, is at Swann, on Thursday….WG cut that 20-point Allen halftime lead in half, by the end of the third quarter, and WG played on even terms with Allen the rest of the way in the game…Bass was BIG for WG and the Tigers are much improved, since the start of the season…

WG girls scoring:End of 1st Q:WG 9, Allen 0…Halftime:WG 14, Allen 1…End of 3rd Q:WG 21, Allen 7…Final:WG 22, Allen 10
WG scoring:Massey 9 points, Bridges 6 points, Hildalgo 3, Phillips 2
Allen Scoring:Gracie 4 points, Suzzy 2 pts., Michela 1 pt…#14 2 pts., # 20 1 pt.

Coach Beard from WG said her girls are now (1-3) on the season, and you could tell by the way Coach Beard was talking to her girls after the game, that Coach Beard was glad to get the win, but she felt like her team could sure play better….Massey was shooting the ball well overall today from the field and from the line, and little #3 for WG, Hildalgo, is one of the hardest working guards, that we have in the county…
