GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College wrestling team dominated the Knights of Southern Virginia University in front of an electric crowd Thursday.

Tyron Dudley got the Pride started with a decision victory at 165-lbs before Trevor Carter and Joel Kanagy both tallied fall victories to extend the Pride lead to 15-0.

The Knights then scored the match’s next six points before Gabe Wilson got them right back with a forfeit victory at 125-lbs.

Following the forfeit, Paul Bauberger suffered a sudden victory loss at 133-lbs to make the score 21-9. However, Greensboro quickly gained the momentum right back with a fall victory by Hai Siu at 141-lbs before Ryan Dominique made it look easy in his bout as he secured a 17-0 technical fall victory.

With Greensboro leading 32-9, Conan Wilson capped off the evening with a fall victory of his own to secure the 29-point victory.

“Tonight we came out and we competed,” Head Coach Kevin Birmingham said. “We had an incredible home crowd with a lot of energy and we simply fed off of it. These seniors deserved to go out on a high note and I am very fortunate and honored to see their development over the last three years.

“As a program, we are doing things right and now we just need to stay focused for St. Andrews on Wednesday.”

The Pride men will return to action Wednesday when they travel to St. Andrews University. For more information on Greensboro College wrestling, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
