Parkland broke open a tight game at East Forsyth with an explosive three-minute stretch across the final periods & cruised to a 75-52 victory over the Eagles at Jack Musten Gymnasium in Kernersville Tuesday night.

The Mustangs, ranked fifth in the NC 3A state rankings, scored on seven straight possessions at the end of the third quarter & start of the final period to stretch a 42-40 advantage to 56-42 & break open what had been a tight game throughout. East led multiple times in the first half & trailed by only five (31-26) at half.

The game remained close until Camien Shell, the game’s leading scorer with 25 points, turned a flurry of Eagles’ turnovers into Parkland points & seal his team’s 14th win in 15 starts. Shell also grabbed seven rebounds as the Mustangs enjoyed a +14 advantage on the boards, led by Kam May with 11. Denoris Wardlow had four of Parkland’s eight three-pointers and added 20 points for the winners. Ty Lyles led East Forsyth with 17 points & seven rebounds.

Parkland’s win sets up the Piedmont Triad 3A showdown Friday night in Tom Muse Gymnasium between the Mustangs & Mount Tabor, the top-ranked team in the North Carolina 3A rankings. East Forsyth hosts Davie County Thursday night in an important Central Piedmont 4A Conference game.
