U.S. Championships News – DAY 4: Fri. Jan 24

Championship Weekend starts today at the 2020 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships, and we are here to provide you with the latest news briefs on the big event.

TICKETS:
Opening Ceremonies & Senior Ladies Free Skate that begins at 6:30pm this evening is close to capacity but there are some good seats still available. To get tickets for that event or any of the other Championship Weekend competitions, go to ncskate2020.com or click here.

COMPETITION:
*Yesterday: Junior Ladies competition concluded and Senior-level events got underway with the Championship Pairs Short Program and Championship Ladies Short Program.
*Medalists: Champions were crowned and medals awarded as follows:

Junior Ladies Final
1. Lindsay Thorngren (Ice House of New Jersey FSC) – 183.76
2. Isabeau Levito (SC of Southern New Jersey) – 179.47
3. Calista Choi (Skokie Valley SC) – 177.05
4. Isabelle Inthisone (DuPage FSC) – 165.34

OPENING CEREMONIES
*This is a lively and entertaining 15 minutes of pure fun and excitement as almost 200 young skaters from across the Carolinas and Special Olympians tell the story of a young figure skating athlete’s journey towards the podium. The program includes Olympic and National Champion skaters Paul Wylie and Rachel Flatt, a love bug on the ice, a “torch skate”, and lighting of the cauldron. It’s a great kickoff to the Championship Ladies Free Skate and you won’t want to miss it!

FANFEST
*Today: FanFest opens at 2:00pm and remains open until 6pm
— Victory Ceremonies: Plaque presentations, autographs, and photos
3:30pm: Junior Ladies Medalists
— Live performances: 4-6pm: Anna & Elsa from Frozen – Meet & greet, face
painting, tattoos, photos, autographs and maybe even ice skating by Anna!!
— Kids Zone: Illusions & Confusions Face Painting & Balloon Twisting
— Game Zone: Roll N Gamez Video Game Trailer
— Music: 4-6:00pm Dana Bearror
— Skating Demonstrations: 2-2:30pm with Callie Morton
2:30-3:15pm with Dana Horvath
4-4:30pm with Lily Hoffman
— Something Unique: 3:15-3:30pm and 5-5:15pm: Benny the Ice Skating Dog on the Mini-Rink. After
each performance Benny says he will do “autographs”?!
