USA South Women’s Hoops Teams Set to #BlockOutCancer:Showing Support for Greensboro College Women’s Basketball Coach Randy Tuggle

The women’s basketball season within the USA South Athletic Conference is well underway and fierce battles with championship dreams are taking place in gyms across the League’s six states. A battle which is being fought outside of the sports arena is one by Greensboro College Women’s Basketball Head Coach Randy Tuggle against pancreatic cancer. In support of a member of its women’s basketball family, the USA South has invited each team in the Conference to designate one of its remaining home games as a Pancreatic Cancer Awareness event in support of Coach Tuggle and his battle to #BlockOutCancer.

Coach Tuggle has publicly shared his courageous journey through this stage of his life in hopes to inspire others who are fighting as hard as he is. With various media outlets, Coach Tuggle has mentioned how the support of the community and his team have been driving forces for his optimism and perseverance. Coach Tuggle has been featured on the local Fox8 affiliate as well as D3hoops.com’s “Hoopsville” webcast’s WBCA Center Court Segment, a special portion of the show sponsored by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

In an effort to visually support the cause and Coach Tuggle, the USA South is supplying purple-themed warm-up shirts to be worn by each team during the specific games. Additionally, purple ribbons will be given to the coaching staffs and game personnel to wear in support. Finally, each member of the home team from the game will sign a shirt with well-wishes which will be sent to Coach Tuggle. Should you wish to support the Tuggle Family financially, please do so by visiting their GoFundMe page. Any unused funds will be donated by the Tuggle’s to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

We thank all 18 of our Conference women’s basketball teams for supporting this initiative as Coach Tuggle continues to #BlockOutCancer!
