Finals tonight from Ben L. Smith High School:
Dudley girls 73, Smith 12
End of 1st Q:Dudley 20, Smith 5…Halftime:Dudley 48, Smith 5…End of 3rd Q:Dudley 65, Smith 12…Final:Dudley 73, Smith 12…
Smith girls held scoreless in the second and fourth quarters…Dudley got a good look tonight at some of its top young prime talent in kids like Imani Thomas, Kennedy Fikes, Chelsie Powe, Zahara Howie, and Anayah Underwood…Dudley has at three bigs in Fulmore, Underwood, and Thomas…Dudley girls in firm command of the Piedmont Triad 3-A Conference at (6-0)…
Dudley girls now (14-6/6-0)/Smith(0-19/0-6)
Dudley boys 73, Smith 53
End of 1st Q:Smith 12, Dudley 11…Halftime:Dudley 23, Smith 22…End of 3rd Q:Dudley 50, Smith 39…Final:Dudley 73, Smith 53
Dudley boys(14-5/2-4)/Smith(15-4/4-1)
JV Boys:Smith 75, Dudley 74
Dudley’s Darien Wynn finishes the game with 30 points and he had 25 second half points for the Panthers…Jahree Braswell with 9 big second half points for Dudley and several key rebounds and key defensive stops….
Dudley boys got a strong first half from Ayden Gamble and then early in the second half, Jahree Braswell came in for Coleman Wood and Braswell went to work…But for the Win, Darien Wynn carried the Dudley Panthers on this night…Wynn was putting it in, again and again…Wynn was hitting three’s from the same spot on both sides of the court…
Wynn got into a zone there for about two minutes in the third quarter, and he couldn’t miss…Darien Wynn solidified his name in the annals of the Dudley-Smith basketball rivalry history books tonight…For all of the big Dudley-Smith high school basketball games from over the years, Darien Wynn is now part of that legendary folklore…
For Smith to be successful and consistent on a regular basis, they will have to get more than one point a game, from point guard Khalid Hinds…
Tonight, once the ball and momentum started rolling Dudley’s way, Smith could not stop it…
Once Dudley took over the game, it was the Panthers’s ball game and they(primarily Gamble, Wynn and Braswell) weren’t giving it back….
Some kind of regular season series with the Smith and Dudley boys this year, Smith wins at Dudley by 20, and then Dudley comes over to Smith and wins by 20…..Now we can all hope they might meet again the conference tournament finals…..Maybe that game may even end up on a neutral court…..Seems to me in many ways, there are no neutral courts any more, it has all become “War in the Fifth Degree”….

The Dudley boys made seven(7) big 3’s in their win over Smith on Friday night…That was a big plus, and at one stage of the game, Dudley’s Darien Wynn could not miss…It was Wynn, again and again from three-point land….
Also the energy and electricity in that gym at Smith last night was off the charts….The place was packed and it was like a sardine can in there, that is how tight the fit was, but it was a good fit and the crowd did of good job of making room, so all could get a seat….
Good job by Smith AD Rod McCollough and assistant AD Joe Godette last night on handling the masses…
And how about the job by that young lady off of the Smith girls basketball team on the National Anthem last night/Friday night…
You can go back and hear it all on GreensboroSports Radio/http://www.greensborosportsradio.com….
