DURHAM, N.C. – The seventh-ranked NC State women’s basketball team (21-1, 10-1 ACC) overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Duke (11-10, 5-5 ACC) by a 63-60 score Sunday afternoon inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Wolfpack stared up at a 40-30 Blue Devil lead midway through the third period but held Duke to 1-of-6 from the field and four turnovers over the final 5:36 of the quarter to whittle away at the deficit. In that same span, NC State outscored Duke 13-5 and shot 5-of-7 from the floor to trail by just two (43-45) entering the final 10 minutes.

The fourth quarter featured three lead changes and four ties before Grace Hunter took over for the Wolfpack. The senior guard hit back-to-back threes under the four-minute mark, the second of which put NC State up 55-54 with 2:13 remaining and gave the Pack the lead for good. Her third trey of the afternoon and of the fourth quarter came with 35 seconds left in the game and iced away the win for the Wolfpack.

Elissa Cunane led NC State in scoring with 27 points, just one shy of her career high. Jakia Brown-Turner also scored in double figures for the eighth time in 11 conference games with 12 points. Kayla Jones also filled the stat sheet with a team-leading 12 rebounds and five assists.

The Pack held Duke to a 26.3 shooting clip in the fourth quarter and took advantage of its six trips to the free-throw line.

The Wolfpack faced a halftime deficit (27-23) for just the third time this season and the second time in conference play. The team went without a basket from the floor from the 7:54 mark of the second quarter to the 1:03 mark of that same period. The Pack converted on just one free throw and went 0-for-5 from the field in that span. NC State turned the ball over 15 times in the first half alone but managed to reduce that number to just four turnovers in the second half.

Duke went on an 8-0 run early in the second half to build up its 10-point lead with 5:36 remaining in the third quarter, but NC State remained composed and made some big shots down the stretch to complete the comeback victory.
