Greensboro College Baseball Splits Twin Bill With Southern Virginia To Close Three-Game Series To Open Season

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team split a doubleheader to close out a three-game series with the Knights of Southern Virginia University Saturday.

Greensboro was victorious in the first game of the afternoon before falling in the series finale 12-2.

In the first game, Chance Bryant gave Greensboro a one-run lead in the first inning with a double to left field before Scotty McGuire made it 2-0 with a RBI on a sacrifice fly.

With the Pride leading 2-0, McGuire tallied another RBI in the third inning before Greensboro broke the game open with three runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Brayden King and Cameron Peters both had 2 RBI hits, while Jamar Ellis and Kendal Tucker each had one RBI.

After taking a 9-0 run into the ninth, the Knights struck for two runs but the Pride was able to hold on for the seven-run victory.

Jared Cenal pitched the first five innings and was credited with the win, while Cameron Edmonds converted the rare four-inning save.

Following their victory, the Pride could not get anything going in the Game 2 loss. Hunter Curtis highlighted the Greensboro offense and finished with three hits, including a homerun in the first inning. Eli Moravick was credited with the loss after allowing six runs over 4.2 innings. Chenzo Scanio, Dominic Colosimo, Kamren Keim, Peyton Ebel, and Tucker combined to pitch the final 4.1 innings.
