GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s basketball team fell to the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College Saturday 77-69.

Aided by seven combined points from Ashley Free and Diajah Hickson, the Greensboro women opened the game on an 11-2 run before the Bishops were able to battle back to tie the game at 17 with 1:28 to play in the period.

Following the Bishops three-pointer to tie the game, Destiny Timberlake hit from three-point land with less than a minute on the clock to put the Pride on top 20-17 before talking a 22-19 lead into the second period.

Over the next 10 minutes, the teams traded the lead six times before N.C. Wesley closed the half on a 5-0 run to take a 39-37 halftime lead.

In the second half, Greensboro struggled from the field and the Bishops went on to establish a 14 point lead early in the fourth period before holding on for the eight-point victory, following a late surge by the Pride.

Ashley Free finished with 19 points, while Katie Lewis(Southeast Guilford High School), who was recognized prior to the start of the game, finished with 12 points.
