Elon Women’s Track & Field: Zee Matches School Record at JDL College Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Junior Alyssa Zee matched a school-record in the 60-meter dash to highlight four victories for the Elon University women’s track and field team at the JDL College Team Challenge on Thursday evening, Feb. 13, at the JDL Fast Track Complex.

RESULTS

Zee clocked a time of 7.75 in the 60-meter dash, tying Sydney Griffin for the fastest time in school history. The mark also qualified Zee for the 2020 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships.

Fellow junior Moira O’Malley also punched her ticket to the ECACs in the high jump. The Harleysville, Pa., native set a new personal-best by clearing the bar at 5′ 7″ (1.70m) and took the gold in the event.

Aliya Barrows qualified for the ECACs in the 400-meters as the freshman ran a time of 57.33 in the race, a new season-best for the Rumford, R.I., native. She also earned medalist honors in the race.

Jordan Haywood was the fourth Elon athlete to claim an event title with the sophomore coming in first in the 200-meters. Haywood ran a time of 25.44 while Zee was third overall with her time of 25.73. Haywood also was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.12.

Elyse King also was the runner-up in the triple jump. The junior had a leap of 11.05m in the event.

The Phoenix distance squad will race tomorrow, Feb. 14, at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
