College Women’s Basketball Final – Guilford 58, Shenandoah 52:Lindsay Gauldin(Northwest Guilford HS) 11 points/Game-high eight rebounds/Game-high five assists for Guilford

WINCHESTER, Va. – Miracle Walters scored a game-high 20 points and helped Guilford College hold off Shenandoah University, 58-52, for a road Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball victory Saturday. Walters made 9-of-12 shots from the floor in her third 20-point game of the season. The win salvaged a split of the season series between the teams.

A Walters’ jumper with 11 seconds left in the third quarter gave Guilford (13-8, 9-7 ODAC) a 41-31 lead entering the final frame. Back-to-back Jordan Sondrol baskets brought the Hornets (15-8, 11-5 ODAC) to within 41-35 with seven and a half minutes left in regulation. The teams traded scores for the next six minutes before a Sondrol triple with 63 seconds remaining trimmed Guilford’s lead to 49-46. The Quakers converted five of six free throws and got a Walters layup in the final 26 seconds to preserve their fifth win in six games.

Lindsay Gauldin (Stokesdale, N.C./Northwest Guilford) added 11 points, a game-high eight rebounds, and a game-high five assists for Guilford. She also made five free throws and was part of the Quakers’ 15-of-17 shooting effort from the charity stripe. Carisma Lynn added eight points and Calyn Davis finished with seven.

Sondrol, who tallied nine fourth-quarter points, led Shenandoah with 16 points. Sierra St. Cyr added 10 points and McKenzie Mathis finished with eight points and five assists.
