Big Third Period Lifts Pride Men Past Ferrum 14-11

FERRUM, Va. – Austin Abourjilie recorded six goals as the Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team used a seven-goal third period to move past the Panthers of Ferrum College Wednesday 14-11.

After playing the first 15 minutes to a 3-3 draw, Ferrum outscored the Pride 4-3 in the second to take a one-goal lead into halftime.

Davis Miller was then able to tie the game early in the third period before Dominic Scali found the back of the net with 11:10 showing on the clock to give Greensboro an 8-7 lead. However, the Pride was not done there as Miller, Spencer Kontoulas, Michael Meley, and Abourjilie combined for the raining give goals to give Greensboro a 13-8 lead heading into the final period.

Over the final 15 minutes, Ferrum outscored the Pride 3-1 but Greensboro held on for the three-goal victory.

Meley finished the day with three goals while Miller and Kontoulas both had two goals. Christopher Stallings was credited with the win and recorded six saves.
