Elon Women’s Lacrosse Picks Up 11-6 Win Over Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Elon University women’s lacrosse earned its second win of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 when it topped Radford 11-6 in the first ever meeting between the teams.

THE RUNDOWN
After taking a 4-2 lead over the Highlanders, the Phoenix went on a 4-0 run to bring its lead up to six with 2:49 left in the first half (8-2). Cami Lynch led the run with two goals, with Mae McGlynn and Hannah McCarthy rounding out the run with the other two. As the half came to a close, the teams traded goals to make the score 9-3.

The second half started like how the first ended. After each team scored, the Highlanders tacked on two more to come within four goals of the Phoenix (10-6). Bella Feldmann brought Elon up to 11 with the final goal of the evening.

HIGHLIGHTS
McGlynn paced the Phoenix offense, recording a team-high three goals that all came on free position shots. Sara Bouwman, Lynch, and Summer Larese followed with two each in addition to Feldmann and McCarthy adding one apiece. Gillian Curran tallied a team-high in draw controls (5) with Quinn Daly posting a game-best five caused turnovers.

Radford’s Grace Gleason led the Highlanders with two goals, while Brittany Rinaldi and Maggie Egan picked up three ground balls. Rinaldi was also one of four Radford players with one caused turnover.

NOTES
-Elon outshot the Highlanders 33-16.
-In the draw circle, the Phoenix collected 12-of-19 during the matchup.
-The teams both picked up 18 ground balls over the course of the game.
