Trisciani Leads Elon Football Through First Practice of 2020 Spring Campaign

ELON, N.C. – Elon University football opened its 2020 spring campaign Monday, March 2, with a two-hour practice at the Hunt and Tucker Practice Fields on campus. Back on the field for practice for the first time since closing the 2019 season with a 25-23 road win over 19th-ranked Towson, Elon worked out in helmets and shorts on a gorgeous, brisk North Carolina morning.

After practice, head coach Tony Trisciani offered his thoughts on the first session and what he wants to get accomplished over the course of the next six weeks.

On getting back on the football field for the first spring practice:
“It’s great to be out here, the guys have earned the right to come out here and play some football after putting the work in during the offseason. The energy was great today, we were flying around. We had some big plays on both sides of the ball and that’s what we want to see, but it’s great to be back out here to play some football.”

On what he looks for the team to work on throughout the spring campaign:
“We want to be a tougher football team and we want to be a consistent football team coming out of spring ball. This week here, we’re just in helmets today and Wednesday and it’s all about getting lined up, playing fast, communication, execution and developing skills here for the first couple days. When we put the pads on Friday, it’s going to be banging, it’s going to be competitive and we want to have some physicality and guys competing for jobs.”

Elon will return to the field on Wednesday, March 4, at 9 a.m. for its second practice session of spring. All practice dates and times are subject to change, and fans wishing to attend practice are encouraged to follow the team’s Twitter account for any updates to spring practice should changes be necessary.
