WG Coach/AD Chris Causey reflects back on his former football player Aaron Jones…Coach Causey coached Aaron Jones, back when Coach Causey was the head football coach at Western Guilford High School…

Coach Causey told us today that Aaron Jones always had a big smile on his face, both on and off of the football field…“Aaron Jones could light up a room with his smile”, said Coach Chris Causey

Aaron Jones was just a big lineman when Jones was a freshman at Western Guilford, but Aaron kept bugging Coach Causey to give him a chance to run the football, and by Aaron Jones’ sophomore year, he was the starting WG Hornets’ Y-back and then by his senior season at Western, Aaron Jones was the Hornets’ starting tailback, and he was rushing for 26 touchdowns, with a high-game of 6 TD’s, and Jones was named to the News and Record’s First Team All-County team….

Per word of most of the opposing coaches that faced WG with Aaron Jones at TB, the opposing coaches were all in agreement, that Aaron Jones(6’3/230) was a very hard man to bring down, and the opposing coaches said they sure wouldn’t want to try and be the ones tackling Aaron Jones, that would be a two-man job…Aaron Jones, a very hard young man to tackle, and he just wouldn’t go down….

On Katelyn Beardsley, Athletic Director Chris Causey said Katelyn was deep in her faith and she would be remembered for always wanting to help others…AD Causey told us that Katelyn Beardsley was just a nice person and her smile personified who she was and it made others be drawn to her, and the sincere friendship that she exhibited…Per AD Chris Causey, Western Guilford women’s lacrosse coach, Coach Hazlip, told him that Katelyn Beardsley always put others first….

Coach/AD Chris Causey said there really was a void, with all of the Western Guilford athletes passing away in recent weeks…You can feel it, and it is obvious that something very important is missing, with the loss of these Western Guilford High School athletes….
