Recap: With freshman point guard Greg Paulus leading the way, top-seeded Duke finally put pesky Wake Forest out of the ACC Tournament with a 78-66 win. Paulus scored a career high 18 points for the Blue Devils. After a close first half, Duke took charge of the game in the second half as it looked like the Deacons’ fuel tank was finally on empty. Paulus and freshman cohort Josh McRoberts were asked to step up because of a hobbled J.J. Redick and a foul plauged Sheldon Williams. Both did just that, playing well in their first ACC Tournaments. Redick was hurt in the first half and missed about 4 minutes of playing time before returning to the court wearing a knee brace.
Wake star center Eric Williams excelled once again, scoring 23 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, to keep the game competative. Deacon Justin Gray scored 15 points but was forced to miss valuable minutes in the second half due to foul trouble which hurt the Wake Forest effort. Duke moves on to the Tournament Championship Game for the ninth straight year. Wake prepares for a trip to the NIT.

Recap: With a packed Greensboro Coliseum firmly behind the Tar Heels, it would be easy to forgive Boston College for being a little nervous. The Eagles were anything but nervous in their second ever ACC Tournament game, using a poised and physical game to send the Tar Heels home after an 85-82 BC victory. Craig Smith and Jared Dudley helped Boston College dominate the Tar Heels inside. After leading by 1 point at halftime, BC built a comfortable second half lead but much to the Tar Heels credit, they refused to give up. Using relentless full court pressure and some physical play of their own, Carolina forced the Eagles into some sloppy play that allowed UNC to mount a furious late game comeback. BC struggled on the foul line down the stretch and after David Noel pulled Carolina to within 3, the Eagles’ Tyrese Rice was on the foul with just under 3 seconds left looking to seal the deal. Rice continued the BC foul shooting trend, as his first shot of the 1 and 1 bounced off the rim. Luckily for Boston College, Craig Smith grabbed his 15th rebound on the game’s final play, denying Carolina the chance for a game tying shot and sending BC to the ACC Championship Game.
