Greensboro Galaxy Girls AAU team has now won five in a row

*****Special to greensborosports.com by Milton Jenkins at the AAU Girls National Tournament up in Kingsport, Tennessee*****

The Galaxy girls AAU Team continued their winning ways with a 45 to 37 victory over a well coached Bloomington Stars team from the great State of Indiana. Galaxy got off to a 9 to 3 lead with the hot shooting of starting point guard Brittany Drew (Page) who knocked down a three pointer and a short jumper in the first two minutes of the game. How ever for some reason or another they reverse the three pointer back to a two pointer. The Galaxy girls did not let that stop their momentum as they race to a thirteen point lead with about 4 minutes left in the half. The Bloomington Stars decided that it was time for them to make a run while some of the starters sat on the bench and close the deficit to six before Coach Williams decided to go back to her original game plan. Galaxy regained its composure and went in to the half with a 26 to 13 half time lead. The game stay around that margin until Bloomington closed the gap to 5 points, 37 to 32 with 6 minutes left, but Galaxy showed great desire and would not be denied for a final 45 to 36 win to advance in the winners bracket of the National Tournament. Galaxy was led by Miranda Jenkins (Eastern Guilford)16 points, Britanny Drew (Page) 10 points Desiree Drayton (Dudley) 7 points and Leandra Hicks (Dudley) tournament high 7 points and 5 rebounds. The competition is getting fierce and they will still need consistent help from Khadejah Wilkerson, Precious Tonkin, Haley Newman and Brooklyn Davis to continue to move forward. Galaxy plays another tough team from Maryland tomorrow at 3:30.
