Greensboro Colts baseball, last check the Greensboro Colts were trailing the team from Western Branch, Virginia 10-1 on Friday in the bottom of the 5th inning at War Memorial Stadium. I placed a call to local baseball tracker Kevin Moore and we hope to have full results by Monday. Sorry for the delay.*****(The Colts lost on Friday night 7-6 and with the Friday afternoon loss to Western Branch the Greensboro Colts were out of the tournament in just two games. Coach Alan Ashkinazy was not a happy camper but there’s always next year.)*****

Palomino East Zone, no word on the Guilford Patriots. No calls or E-mails, were in action against the host team up in Pennsylvania on Saturday.*****The Patriots lost their first game 3-2 and Michael Dimock took the loss. In game two the Patriots were winners over the Cincinnati Sticks 4-0 with Jody Calloway getting the win allowing only four hits and striking out ten batters. Lester Rivenbark drove in all four of the Patriots runs and the Guilford Patriots were back in business. That was game one on Sunday and in Sunday’s second game the Pats won again topping Chatham, New York 10-0 behind a combined no-hitter for Blaine McCraw and Spike Upchurch. Nick Rogers had a grand slam home run to pace the Patriots at the plate. The Patriots will be in action again on Monday afternoon at 3pm versus the team from North Hills, Pa.*****

National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series, Greensboro Elks went 1-1 on Saturday, the TC Spirits out of Kernersville lost on Saturday and Denton, N.C. was a loser on Saturday afternoon. The Ontario Canada Blue Jays were winners and they moved closer to the title with action concluding here on Sunday.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers, saw their 9 game winning streak end on Saturday night with a 4-2 loss to the Delmarva Sorebirds.

High School Football practice beings tonight at 12 midnight on the campus of Grimsley and Dudley.
