The Death of Sportsmanship

It may be a little late for Richard Petty to take Kyle over his knee and give him a paddling; but this weekend’s incident put a cap on athletes behaving badly. To hit a guy who is restrained in a racing seat is not good sportsmanship.

A North Carolina Central player went on the field after the game and stomped on the A&T logo, a fight between teams resulted.

After last week’s Guilford County Hall of Fame, where men and women of sports were honored for their conduct on and off the field; it was extremely disappointing to realize that some people in the sports have tarnished the image of all athletes by their poor attitudes and actions.

May be coaches, parents and players will realize it’s time to step up.

  1. NASCAR = Rednecks

And you are surprised by their behavior?

EDITORS NOTE – A comparison of A&T and Central was removed because it was in poor taste.

  2. Why is it ok for him to say rednacks but not negroes?

And with the edit it makes it sound like he said something worse than he did, which was negroes. The man said negroes.

  3. Don,
I’m glad you edited the post, but rather than pander to one group or the other, wouldn’t it have been better move to erase the entire posting? Are you saying that blacks are more or less tolererance than redneck NASCAR fans? Or are you saying than one group is more equal than the other? I guess Rednecks don’t have their own college fund, so that would be one difference.
