High School football games for Friday October 5th

Here’s a look at what’s happening around the county and throughout the GREENSBOROSports.com area for this evening:

Grimsley at High Point Central-Should be all Whirlies by at least three TD’s. Allen is out but Grimsley still has Moore, Brown, Ray, and Maynard to run the ball.(6-0 vs. 2-4)
Western Alamance at Northeast Guilford-After reading Jeff Carlton’s article in today’s News and Record and seeing all those NEG injuries I have to take WA by 10. If Bratcher starts for NEG and plays the whole game I’ll take NEG by 3.
Dudley at Morehead-The Panthers by 14. Dudley has had time now to adjust and they should be hitting their stride if they’re going to have one.
Trinity at Ragsdale-Homecoming for the Tigers and should be a productive one with a 17 point RHS advantage.
Southeast Guilford at Asheboro-The Falcons have to win this game and they will by 6. Both teams are 4-2 so SEG must play mistake-free football.
McMichael at Southern Guilford-The SG Storm(4-2), the Phoenix(2-4), William Graves told me on the phone last night that Southern has to win this game on his last Homecoming as an SG player and they will and Graves is the best all-purpose runner in our area. No disrespect to Tyler Woods of NEG, but Will is carrying the pill up the hill, down the hill and around it from RB, punt returns, kickoff returns, and receiving.
Atkins at Eastern Guilford-The Camels have scored 113 and given up 160 while the EG Wildcats have put 143 on the board and allowed 140. Camels 2-4, ‘Cats 4-2, I don’t know about you but I’ll take the ‘Cats by 22.
Smith at Page-0-6 vs. 2-4…Let’s say the Pirates by 42 and Will Newman does not play at all after mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Pirates dispose of Smith and start getting ready for the Whirlies. Homecoming at Kirby Stadium and a smaller than usual crowd. Everybody is saving their money up for the Grimsley game.
Northwest Guilford at East Forsyth-Both NWG and EF are 2-4 as are all of the teams in the Metro 4-A conference with the exception of 6-0 GHS and O-6 BL Smith. I’m not sure how good the East QB is but he did visit Notre Dame last weekend on an invite and Charlie Weiss asked him if he brought his cleats.(get in there now kid) East on their Homecoming by 7.
High Point Andrews at Glenn-HPA(1-4) against the GHS Bobcats(6-0). Glenn has outscored HPA 208 to 97 with 6 games vs. 5 but Glenn has only given up 69 points all year. 208 for/69 against, that’s good numbers and Glenn by 20.
Southwest Guilford at Carver-SWG(2-4), Carver 5-1 and the Yellowjackets of GW Carver take this game 49-14.
*****Last night the High Point Central JV’s led by QB Drew Adams and his three TD passes stopped Grimsley 26-6. Adams’ first TD toss went to Javoni Miller and then the route was on. Drew is the backup to HPC varsity QB Ricky Mitchell and this Adams kid can run the option to perfection. Remember the name Goldust and don’t forget the new kid on the county QB block, Drew Adams.*****

Here’s a new concept that I came up with earlier this morning at one of our comment boxes:
Let’s see if we can’t get a Special Post-Season game with Smith vs. the Northern Guilford JV’s at Guilford College. Charge everybody a $1.00 to get in and give the proceeds to a charity like the Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving meal fund.

Play the game the Saturday night before Thanksgiving, Guilford’s season should be over by then. We’ll get some local refs to donate their time and we can have a major challenge on our hands. This would get great pub for Guilford and give Smith a chance to win a game and NGHS a chance to see if they can beat a Varsity team.

Let’s get this Challenge out there…Smith do you want some? Northern can you beat the Smith Varsity team? Do we have any takers? If I have to I’ll play one half for each team on defense and I won’t wear pads. I will be wearing pants and a shirt, Thank-you…….
