Reader review on GDS-Smith hoops

One of our readers sent this re-cap in on last night’s Greensboro Day School-Smith boys basketball game.

Got a preview last night of a tough GDS team against Smith. Final scored read 79-48 and could’ve been much worse if GDS hadn’t gone to their third string for the majority of the second half. As always, I was amazed by GDS’ senior guard Bruce Woodall who has to be one of the best pure shooters to come out of the area in the last decade. That said, I think the kid resides in the Danville, VA area. Inked with UVA for golf … Local D-1 programs have to hate he’s not playing at the next level.

  1. I went to the Page @ NEG game last night and a very young and speedy page team was too much for the Rams. Julius brooks broke out in the 2nd half and really put it to NEG. Final 69-58.

  2. How did the Northeast backcourt look? Hawkins and Trapp in particular. Thanks for the report and if you are heading to future games let us know and we will give you your own personal post on the front page.

  3. To be honest, Trapp and Hawkins didnt really impress me that much. Trapp missed alot of his shots, I think he should just stick to setting up plays and passing instead of shooting, because I think he needs work on his shooting game, it looks suspect. Anyways, NEG just didn’t have the size to contend with Mr. Brooks, he took over the game offensively and defensively down low, and had a couple big blocks as well as a couple big dunks. He has really grown over the past 2 years, especially mentally.

  4. Page definitely isn’t missing Mr. Trapp, Page has a couple studs that I haven’t even seen before, They must have came up from JV. In particular, #3 and #10, I’m not sure of there names.

  5. Laqman Tijani had 25 points for the Pirates. Julius Brooks had 15. For the Rams, Hawkins had 17.
