Grimsley versus Page tonight in high school wrestling at the Bob Sawyer Gym on the Grimsley campus at 7:30pm. Grimsley is (10-10) and they will have several former Whirlie wrestlers on hand and those men(and women if applicable) will be recognized tonight at the match. Coach Brandon Anderson says he has his Whirlie grapplers ready and Page AD Rusty Lee told me yesterday that his Pirates look forward to the challenge.
Page-Grimsley, take it to the mats tonight at 7:30.
From the News and Record on-line yesterday, Tory Warren a football player from Dudley has signed a letter of intent to attend N.C. A&T. Warren was one of the top offensive and defensive players for the Panthers on this season’s 3-AA State Championship team. He is looking to go to A&T as a defensive back.
Warren played basketball last season(2006/2007) for the Christ School up in Arden near Asheville along with all the Plumlee brothers and he met Freddy Johnson’s Greensboro Day School Bengals on more than occasion while playing at Christ School.
For some unknown reason, Warren is not playing basketball this year for the Dudley Panthers even he spent the enitre season last year working on his basketball game up at the Christ School. One would assume that Warren is now focusing on football only after the success he experienced this past season with the Dudley Panthers football team. But you still have to wonder, could Tory Warren help the Panthers?
Jonathan Johnson was #42 with the Panthers last year and would have been a senior this year but his family moved out-of-town, but I’m not sure where they went. I think JJ would have been able to help out this year. His brother Robert Johnson is still with the A&T Aggies basketball squad.
