The Greensboro College baseball team opened the year with a doubleheader sweep at Hampden-Sydney College.
-Game One: GC 4, H-SC 2
The game was 2-2 and then The Pride scored 2 runs in the top of the eight to get the win. Jacob Tomb singled home Dan Poindexter (who had singled earlier for the game-winning tally.
Leadoff hitter Tomb led The Pride at the plate. He was 3-4 with a run and 2 RBI. Kit Mock earned the complete game win. He threw 8 innings, allowed 4 hits, struck out 11 and walked one.

-Game Two: GC 4, H-SC 0
Starter Jordan Dorsett and Kent Gilliland combined for the shutout in the nightcap. Dorsett allowed 4 hits in 5 1/3 innings and Gilland hurled 1 2/3 innings of perfect ball. Anthony Corona was 2-3 and Alex Guerra went 1-4 with 2 RBI for GC at the plate.
