There are only a few hours left before kickoff of Super Bowl XLII, when the undefeated New England Patriots face off with the New York Giants. As is the case every year, there is much more to the “Big Game” than just the big game. On paper, the game itself doesn’t look all that exciting. The Patriots remain a 12 point favorite and most folks outside of a few hardy Giants fans don’t give the G-Men much of a chance. That said, they don’t play the games on paper, just ask Joe Namath (just try to ask him when he is sober).
Of course, the Super Bowl ads are always greatly anticipated and rarely do they live up to the hype. This year, advertisers are trying to get more interactive with viewers as they direct game watchers to check out online sites for additional content. It will be interesting to see how people respond to this and it is a good bet that if the response is good, we’ll see more of this in the future.
The Super Bowl is also one of the bigger social get-togethers of the year. Bars, clubs and other hang outs will be packed with football fans and non-fans alike. There will be plenty going on in the Gate City. Again, I will put out the call, if you know of great place to watch the game make a suggestion in the comment box.
And one more thing….if the 7 1/2 hour pregame show isn’t enough information for you, the official website of the Super Bowl is a pretty good one as league run websites go.
Enjoy the game and may the best team win (as long as it is the Giants).
