Guilford College Athletics Weekly Update

Guilford’s baseball team opens the 2008 season Tuesday at home versus Greensboro College at 2:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but moved up due to the forecast of rain that day. The Quakers’ women’s basketball team dropped two home games over the weekend. Virginia Wesleyan overcame a halftime deficit and pulled out a 62-58 win Saturday over Guilford. Jasmine Wood scored a career-high 19 points and Tracey Croner chipped in with 11. The night before, Guilford dropped a 66-57 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision to nationally ranked Randolph-Macon College. Croner’s 19 points led Guilford. Guilford’s men’s basketball team won at Virginia Wesleyan for the first time since 2004 Sunday. Ben Strong scored a game-high 30 points and added seven boards for Guilford. The Quakers downed Randolph-Macon on the road Saturday, 69-51. Strong notched his 13th double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Belkoski added 13 points as the Quakers gained a split of the season series with the Yellow Jackets.
