Greensboro Womens Lacross falls to Oneonta

The GC women’s lacrosse team came up one goal short today in their season opener, falling to visiting SUNY Oneonta 14-13. Sophomore Christie Hebert led The Pride with six goals, five of which came in the first half.

SUNY Oneonta (1-0) outshot GC (0-1) 34-25. The game was tied at halftime 8-8, but the Dragons started strong in the second half by scoring five unanswered goals before the Pride finally got on the board with a goal from Senior Christina Denny (six goals) with 13:48 to go. GC closed the gap with two goals in the final three minutes of the game and had a chance to tie, but a shot by Layne Woodard hit the far post. The Dragons claimed possession and ran out the clock for the win.

Pride Goalkeeper Stacey Pulskamp had 10 saves in the game and the Dragons Eileen O’Toole stopped seven shots.
