GUILFORD’S TRACEY CRONER NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-ODAC

Salem, Va. — Guilford College junior Tracey Croner (Rockwell, N.C./East Rowan) earned Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball honors for the second straight season Wednesday night. The all-conference teams and special award winners were selected by the league’s head coaches and recognized at the ODAC’s annual banquet at the Salem Civic Center.

Randolph-Macon College sophomore Molly Ariail was named the league’s Player of the Year. Teammate Amanda Hiltunen won the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Virginia Wesleyan College’s Stephany Dunmyer won her second ODAC Coach of the Year prize and Jessica Burkholder of Bridgewater College collected the league’s Rookie of the Year prize.

Croner, a 5-10 forward, started all 25 games and led Guilford in scoring for the second straight season (12.4 ppg.). She stands 12th among the league’s scoring leaders through games of Feb. 25 and ranks seventh with a team-high .453 field-goal percentage. Croner ranked second on the team with a career-high 5.2 rebounds per game and also contributed 1.7 assists per outing. She paced Guilford’s scorers nine times and scored in double figures 17 times. Croner hit for a season-high 24 points and added six boards in the Quakers’ 92-68 win at Salem College Dec. 3. She notched her lone double-double of the season with 15 points and a team-best 10 rebounds in Guilford’s 64-53 loss at Washington and Lee University Jan. 29.

Croner, a 2007 second-team all-state honoree, enters her senior year with 653 career points (12.8 ppg.) and 227 rebounds (4.5 rpg.). She shoots 46.4 percent from the floor and 85.3 percent from the line through two seasons. Croner has scored in double figures 23 times in 51 career games.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers posted an 11-14 record (6-14 ODAC) and returns all 12 letter winners for the 2008-09 campaign.
