Army Rallies Past Maryland-Baltimore County 4-3
BALTIMORE, Md. Friday afternoon at The Baseball Factory Field.
The Black Knights (1-4) of West Point earned their first victory of the season by battling back from a 3-1 deficit with one run in the sixth inning and two tallies in the eighth.

Army broke on top first, scoring a run without the aid of a base hit in the third inning when Kyle Stramara walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tony Capozzi and moved to third on a groundout. Clint Moore was hit by a pitch, placing runners at first and third, then Stramara and Moore successfully executed a double-steal, providing Army with a 1-0 lead.

The Black Knights scored a pair of unearned runs in the eighth inning when J.P. Polchinski blasted a two-run home run after a Retriever fielding error extended the inning.

Polchinski collected three of Army’s nine hits, while Clint Moore and Chris Simmons registered two hits each.

A two-run double by Clint Moore stretched Army’s lead to 4-0.

Run-scoring singles by Tony Capozzi and Clint Moore highlighted the Black Knights’ five-run fourth, extending Army’s lead to 11-0.

Chris Simmons, Clint Moore, J.P. Polchinski, Kyle Fleming and Tony Capozzi each garnered two hits, with Simmons chipping in with four runs batted in, and Ernesto and Moore registering three each.

Clint Moore from Grimsley HS is batting .320, going 8-25, with 2 runs scored, 4RBI’s, and 10 Total Bases….
JP Polchinski from Ragsdale HS stands at .250, 5-20, 1HR, and 2RBI’s.
