In memory of Adam Conlee Kincaid

We have had a number of inquiries about former Northwest Guilford athlete Adam Kincaid.

Here’s the story on Adam from the N&R:

GREENSBORO — Mr. Adam Conlee Kincaid, 23, born June 29, 1984, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital. Family and friends gathered for prayer at 12:34 p.m., his favorite time of day.

A celebration of Adam’s life was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Holden Road.

Adam was a true Kansan before he was a Tarheel, and he was baptized on June 16, 1985, in Ellinwood, Kansas, and was confirmed on April 18, 1999, at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Adam graduated from Northwest High School in June of 2003, and then pursued his education at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology on May 13, 2007. Adam was such a kind and spirited soul. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Adam was influenced by his love of music, philosophy, sports, family, and friends. He had the uncanny capacity to connect with others and give off a unique positive energy. Everyone was left a better person for having known Adam, and Adam’s love for them, for all people, for life, for God, family and friends.

Adam was the first born son of Frank and Becky Kincaid of Greensboro, who survive. He is also survived by two brothers, Zachary and Samuel, and one sister, Sarah of Greensboro; grandparents, Darrell and JoAnn Kincaid and Dick and Jeanne Trupp of Topeka, Kansas; extended Trupp family members, Rick, Rhonda, Taylor, Morgan, Hailey, Robert, Andrea, Mariah, Katy, Adam Robert, David, Jean, Connor, Keira and extended Kincaid family members, Carolyn, Gordon, Adrian, Carey, Berry, Nancy, Brett, Matt, Melissa Riley, Peg, Tony, Branden, Travis, Katelynn Waldschmidt, Richard, Jackie, Jake, Jenna, Luke, Chris, Meghan, Madeline, Nolan, Charlotte; and his loving girlfriend, Ashley Cook.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday evening at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Adam Kincaid Scholarship Fund, c/o Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.

*****The word we received on Adam is that he was at a friend’s house last weekend, had stomach problems and ended up choking to death at that time. Again, out thoughts go out to his family and friends. We have had many inquiries within our stats department about him and that is why we have printed his obit.

Adam Kincaid was not related to the Bill, Harold(Harry), or the Richie Kincaid families that grew up out in the Western Guilford/Northwest Guilford areas. Harry and Richard(Richie) made it pretty far up the ladder in the golfing industry. They both were very good golfers and I believe they ended up owning a golf course over in the Winston-Salem area.*****
