Tonight the road gets tougher for the Dudley girls(22-7) as they take on Winterville South Central(28-0) in the 3-A girls East Regional semifinals at JH Rose High School in Greenville, N.C.
The Dudley girls are led by Helen Terry 16.3ppg and the Lady Panthers play a fast-paced up tempo style of basketball. Amanda Hairston (daughter of former Elon star Eric Hairston, who died late last year) and Desiree Drayton lead the Panthers’ inside game and remember, Helen Terry can knock down that long 3-point shot when she’s hot, so WSC will probably have someone hanging all over HT.
Game time for the Dudley girls is set for 7pm tonight and then the Dudley boys(28-2) will face Kinston(26-4) in the 3-A East Regional finals at 1pm on Saturday at ECU. Dudley is led by Marcus Heath, Brandon Pennix, PJ Hairston, Ricky Smith, Brennan Wyatt, Mike Coger, and Chris Whitsett and they face a strong Kinston Vikings squad led by Reggie Bullock and Bo Ingram.
Last night over in Winston-Salem the boy’s West 3-A Regional final was set when the Trinity Bulldogs(29-1) whipped Asheville 71-58 with Josh Pittman connecting for 28 points. Trinity will meet Kernersville Glenn(21-8) on Saturday after the Bobcats clipped Hickory 100-96 in Triple Overtime. Kendall Smith led Glenn with 34 points and 21 rebounds. Glenn is coached by former Northwest Guilford Viking, Lee Reavis.
The Dudley-Kinston winner will play the Glenn-Trinity winner for the 3-A title next Saturday…..
