Jeff Hardy takes a step backwards:No Wrestlemania for the North Carolina native

Jeff Hardy of the Hardy Boys with brother Matt from Cameron, N.C. and out of Union Pines High School has taken another step backwards in his World Wrestling Entertainment career. Jeff was a superstar tag team partner with brother Matt and he won the Intercontinental Title as a singles wrestler and he was destined to win the WWE World Title belt but now he has been suspended for a second time for failing the company’s substance abuse policy.

Here’s the official word from WWE.com:
STAMFORD, Conn. – In accordance with its Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy, WWE has suspended Jeff Hardy for 60 days, for his second violation of the company’s policy.

from pwtorch.com:
WWE wrestler Jeff Hardy has been suspended for 60 days after violating the promotion’s wellness policy for a second time, according to the WWE website.

This announcement explains WWE’s decision to have Chris Jericho capture the WWE Intercontinental title last night in Milwaukee.

from newsday.com:
World Wrestling Entertainment has suspended one of its most popular performers for a second violation of the company’s drug policy.

Stamford-based WWE spokesman Gary Davis says wrestler Jeff Hardy, who has headlined numerous live and pay-per-view events, has been suspended for 60 days. He would not say what drugs were involved.

Davis says there have been about 30 suspensions under the WWE substance abuse and drug testing policy begun last year, which requires tests for steroids and other drugs.

A wrestler faces a 30-day suspension without pay for a first violation, a 60-day suspension for a second violation and firing for a third violation. Performers are tested at least four times per year.

Last August, WWE suspended 10 wrestlers for violations of its drug testing policy involve drug purchases, mostly human growth hormones.
