Greensboro Mens Lacrosse 14, Sewanee 10

SEWANEE, TN — Neal McKinney scored 5 goals and had one assist as Greensboro College (1-5) defeated the University of the South, 14-10, on a rainy afternoon in Sewanee.

The game had a long rain delay, but the teams were able to resume play.

Jose Rodrigez scored twice and assisted once. Nick Patrone added a goal and 2 helpers. Brian Butterworth, Brian Mercer and Jordan Drumheller all netted a goal and an assist for GC.

After trailing 6-1 at one point in the first half, Sewanee rallied, narrowing the lead to three for a 9-6 halftime tally in favor of The Pride.

In the second half, Sewanee kept it close, pulling to within one goal on two different occasions. The Pride pulled away, though, and got the four goal win over Sewanee, which is in its debut year of varsity lacrosse.

Neat Clark had 4 goals for the Tigers, which dropped to 1-3

Stewart Calder picked up 11 saves in the goal for UOS. For Greensboro, Mike Foderaro had 10 saves.

  1. Interesting Did You Know – Sewanee was a charter member of the Southeastern Conference. They left the SEC in 1940.
