Greensboro Baseball: GC 4, Methodist 2

Greensboro, N.C. — Tyler O’Neill went 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBI as Greensboro College defeated Methodist, 4-2, in a USA South game at War Memorial Stadium on Friday.

GC improved to 18-9 and 4-1 in conference play. The Pride remains tied in the loss column with CNU (5-1) for first in the USAS. MU dropped to 17-8, 4-3.

Pride pitcher Kit Mock got the win and improved to 7-2 on the year. He threw 6 ½ innings, allowed 2 runs, scattered 11 hits, walked and struck out one.

Greg Allen got his first save of the year. He pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out 4 and allowed just one hit. Allen worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the 7th. In the 9th, 2 runners were on base when he got Brian Davis to foul out to Alex Guerra to end the game.

GC never trailed in the game. The Pride scored single runs in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th frames. The Monarchs posted single runs in the 6th and 7th innings.

Jacob Tomb went 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Anthony Corona smacked his 4th homer of the season for the home team.

MU’s Fred Gesinger (3-1) suffered his first loss of the year. Seth Kivett went 2-5 with 2 RBI and got his 10th home run of the season for the Monarchs.
