Greensboro College’s Eccles and Duncan are All State

SALISBURY, N.C. – Greensboro College had two student athlete, tied for the most of any institution, on the fourth annual North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State women’s basketball teams released Monday.

Dione Eccles (Clemmons, NC/W. Forsyth), a NCCSIA first team pick, was named the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player as she helped Greensboro to both the regular-season and tournament titles. The First Team All-USA South performer averaged 20.2 points and 6.6 rebounds a game for The Pride. A D3Hoops.com, first team all region pick, she tallied a league-record 54 points in a tournament semifinal win over Ferrum College. Eccles is noted in “Faces in the Crowd” within the current issue of Sports Illustrated.

Greensboro freshman Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) was selected to the All-State second team. Also picked for to the USAS second team and the conference tournament team, Duncan averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds for The Pride.

The duo helped GC to a 21-8 record and a trip to the 2008 NCAA Division III tournament.
