Greensboro Baseball 15, SU 3

Winchester, Va. — Daniel Poindexter (Clemmons, NC/W. Forsyth) had another big day at the plate as Greensboro College ended USA South regular season play with a 15-3 win at Shenandoah on Sunday.

Poindexter went 3-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. For the second straight day the Clemmons, N.C. native drove in 5 runners. Poindexter, who has a .435 batting average, has raised his batting average 42 points in his last 4 games. He is batting .475 in conference games.

Jeff Gregory was 2-3 with 2 runs and an RBI. Kyle Bolick hit 1-3 with a double, 2 runs and an 3 RBI. The Pride led 2-0 but added 4 runs in the 4th and put up 6 in the 6th inning.

Jordan Dorsett (6-3) posted his second straight solid start and got the win. The lefty threw 5 innings, scattered 7 hits and gave up 3 runs. He fanned 4 and walked 2 Hornets. Kevin Showe worked a perfect final 2 frames in the 7 inning (mercy rule) game.

The Pride (24-12, 7-4) will be the third seed in USAS Tournament. GC is unofficially slated to face #6 Ferrum at 1 p.m. in a first round game.

Shenandoah (17-18, 5-7) will be the fifth seed at the championships that begin at Burlington Athletic Stadium on Thursday.
