Guilford College Men’s Lacrosse Final – #20 Roanoke 25, Guilford 6

Salem, Va. – Roanoke College scored a 25-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse victory over Guilford College Wednesday afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons improved to 8-5 overall, 2-3 in the ODAC. The Quakers fall to 2-9, 0-4 in conference play.

Ranked 20th in this week’s LAXnews NCAA Division III Poll, Roanoke won a much-needed ODAC contest that still mathematically keeps them in the hunt for one of four postseason berths. With a win over Lynchburg and two Hornets’ losses, the Maroons will advance to the ODAC Tournament.

The Maroons scored the first four goals and never looked back as they cruised to their eighth victory of the season. Roanoke is 25-2 all-time versus Guilford and has not lost to the Quakers since 1991.

Roanoke dominated in every statistical category. They won in shots (78-22), ground balls (70-33), won 26-of-35 face-offs and 31-of-34 in clear attempts.

Without junior All-American candidate Chas Carlson, Pat March stepped up and had a great performance with five goals and two assists on the afternoon. Ben Sultze and Noah Gibby had three goals apiece. Twelve different Maroons scored, including eight multiple goal scorers.

Guilford’s Todd Bochenek and Matt Halip both score twice in defeat.

Goalie Jake Dorsey had six saves for the Maroons while Andrew Vigne finished with a season-high 24 stops for Guilford.

Roanoke hosts Lynchburg College Saturday (4/18) while the Quakers travel to league-rival Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday.
