Randolph County/Asheboro Post 45 over Power at NBBP…..

The Randolph County/Asheboro Post 45 Legion baseball team defeated the Proehlific Power squad 7-6 on Thursday night at New Bridge Bank Park in downtown Greensboro. Ronnie Pugh’s Post 45 club battled back to ssecure the victory after being down early to the Power and they improve to (9-3) on the season while the Power falls to (8-5).

The Power lead in the ball game 4-0 after three innings but saw Post 45 cut the lead to 4-3 after three-and-half innings, but the Power added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 6-3 after four complete. Asheboro cut the lead to 6-4 after five innings and then the Post 45 Legion team added two runs in the 8th on a two-run home run by Hunter Ridge to tie the game at 6-6 and then Post 45 put up the game-winning run in the top of the 9th off of reliever Timmy Dezearns to win the game 7-6.

The two-run shot by Ridge for Post 45 came off of PP reliever Esterlin Paulino who ended up with the blown save. Power starting pitcher Michael Dimock left the game with his team in front 6-4 and Dimock struck out 13 Post 45 batters. The loss goes to Dezearns and the win to Post 45’s Ethan Marsh.

Aaron Jones had a two-run homer for the Power driving in Travis Woolen who had reached in front of him on a walk. Alex Swim had a single and an RBI, Robbie McIntosh singled and drove in a run and Logan Self had base hit and scored a run for the Proehlific Power. Mike Wall, Nick Jones, and Lyle Donaldson also scored runs for the Power.

The line score for the game went 7 runs on nine hits and one error for the Post 45 team and 6 runs on 4 hits and three errors for the Proehlific Power. Aaron Jones, Alex Swim, Robbie McIntosh and Logan Self had the PP hits and in the power hitting department Jones had the two-run homer for PP and Hunter Ridge had the the two-run shot for Post 45.

Bradley Holland had a double and triple for Post 45 and finished with two runs scored including the game-winning run in the top of the ninth. Nolan Sewall drove in Holland and had the game-winning RBI for Post 45. The final again 7-6, the Post 45 Legion team from Asheboro over the Proehlific Power at New Bridge Bank Park and as we talked about yesterday, Ricky Proehl did throw out the first pitch before the start of the game.
