Greensboro Homers In 16th Straight Game

GREENSBORO – Lexington scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the ninth, Greensboro slipped 13 of their own in between there to take game two of the series, 13-4, and improve to 5-0 against the Legends this season.

Ten different batters collected hits for the Hoppers and Matt Dominguez performed the Carolina Shag around the Legends pitching staff with his 3-for-5 performance at the plate that included his second home run of the season. Dominguez also scored three runs for the Hoppers.

Following Dominguez’s blast, Mike Stanton punched his league-leading 13th home run out of the park as part of a four-run, third inning. Danny Garcia made it three straight innings with a Hoppers home run in the fourth with his leadoff blast; Dominguez’s shot was also in leadoff fashion.

With the hat-trick of home runs, Greensboro extended its consecutive game streak with at least one home run to 16 games. During the 16-game streak, the Hoppers have hit 28 home runs.

From the mound, starter Kyle Kaminska allowed the Legends to practice their spin turns as he fanned five batters in six innings of work and gave up only two runs on six hits. With the win, Kaminska improved to 4-2 on the season.

Greensboro’s win moved the team into second place in the Northern Division with five games remaining the in the first half. The Hoppers finish their current series against Lexington with a 12:30 p.m. matinee on Wednesday at NewBridge Bank Park.

RHP Alex Sanabia (1-1, 4.66) will take the mound for the mound for the Hoppers in their final home game of the first half; he will be opposed by RHP Carlos Ladeuth (2-6, 4.57).
