Three-time Major Champ and Hall of Fame Inductee will play at Sedgefield
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three-time major winner Vijay Singh, currently No. 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings, will play in the 2008 Wyndham Championship, it was announced today. Singh is the highest-ranked golfer to commit to the tournament to date.
Singh joins a quickly improving Wyndham Championship field that already includes defending champion Brandt Snedeker, two-time winners Davis Love, III and Rocco Mediate, Tim Clark, Carl Pettersson, Lucas Glover, David Toms and 2007 British Amateur champion Drew Weaver. Singh won The Masters in 2000 and the PGA Championship in 1998 and 2004; he has recorded 10 consecutive top-five finishes on the PGA TOUR money list.
“Vijay returning to the Wyndham Championship is clearly great news for the tournament and golf fans throughout the Piedmont Triad,†tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Vijay is a class act, and he is one of the hardest-working players on the TOUR. His record speaks for itself; every tournament wants a three-time major winner in their field.
