Colt baseball update on late game from Thursday

The Lou Gehrig team from Hamilton, New Jersey was leading Rockingham County 5-1 last night when the game was called due to heavy rain at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, N.C.

The game was stopped in the top of the seventh inning, again with HNJ in front 5-1 and they were at the plate with RC due to come up in the bottom of 7. The game will continue at 1:30 this afternoon(Friday) with HNJ at bat and they will pick up things just the way they left them on Thursday night.

If RC loses they will be eliminated from the tournament. Greensboro Green will play Butler Township out of Pennsylvania today at 3pm. The winner of today’s first game would play Chesterfield County at 6pm and then the winner of that game would face the loser of the GBG/BTP game at 8pm and then the winner of the 8pm game would move on the championship round on Saturday at 11am.

The line on Thursday’s suspended game went 5 runs on 10 hits and one error for Hamilton, NJ and 1 run on six hits with four errors for Rockingham County. The running score for the contest went no score after one inning, 1-0 RC after two innings, 3-1 HNJ after three innings, no scoring in the 4th or 5th, then two more runs by HNJ in the sixth to make it HNJ UP 5-1 when the game was stopped in the top of the seventh.
