Greensboro Green wins game one over Central Michigan at Colt World Series

The Greensboro Green Colt baseball team coached by Alan Ashkinazy got the win today in round one of the Colt World Series in Lafayette, Indiana.

Greensboro Green defeated Central Michigan 10-5 as Greensboro got key hits against a North Michigan pitcher who had not given up a single run in his 26 previous innings. Glen Clemmons got things started going 2-4 with a triple and a single and 2RBI’s. Corey McKinney scored three runs and he went 3-4 with two doubles and a single. Tivon Clark was 2-3 for the Greensboro Green Colt All-Stars and Sawyer Highfill went 1-3 and he scored one run.

Brock Hudgens got the win going five innings, and he gave up five runs on three hits and he struck out six North Michigan batters. Steven Mekita came to get the save for Greensboro Green.

Greensboro Green will be in action again on Friday at 2:30pm versus Cauin(CA). The Green team is now (1-0) in the tournament after today’s Series-opening victory.


  1. Clemmons also scored 2 runs . His single up the middle tied the game3 to 3. His steal to home from second base put the green team ahead 4 to 3. His triple hit the fence in center field. He also made some great catches with his speed. He has had a great east zone performance and one hec of a game in the world series.

  2. The Greensboro all stars played a great game. With the 3 run homer in the 4th by Central Michigan and down 3 to 2 this Greensboro Team came back like true winners. Hudgens did a great job pitching along with Mikita. Corey McKinney hit the ball well and scored when we needed it. Cal Sutphin had a good game along with Tivo . Sawyer did great at the catcher position and had a good hit. Carter had a hit when we needed it. Not only are these guys good at baseball they are good kids. They have really come together as a team. The way they played today they can beat anyone in this tournament. Good luck guys.
