Proehlific Power goes to (2-1) with Sunday win at World Series

The Proehlific Power grabbed another win in the Palomino World Series on Sunday out in San Jose, California.

The PP behind the strong pitching of Joe Wagstaff defeated Jolliet, Illinois 8-1 with JW going 6 and two-thirds innings, allowing 1 run on four hits, walking two and striking out 8 batters. Wagstaff had to leave the game after a blister on his hand popped and Robbie McIntosh came in to finish it off on the hill for the PP.

The Power defense continues to shine, now having only committed one error through 24 innings of action.

Nick Jones had two hits with one RBI in the Sunday win, while Michael Wall went 3-3 with two RBI’s including a 410 foot home run. Alex Swim had three hits and 2RBI’s and Robbie McIntosh added two hits to the Power offense.

If certain circumstances involving Taiwan occur, then the Proehlific Power could still end up playing Monday(today) for the Palomino World Series title.

  1. Andy,

What circumstances? Glancing at the standings Taiwan should play Kyle Chapman for the title. Is there still a chance the Power may have the opportunity to play in the title game?

  2. A loss by Taiwan on Sunday and then runs scored/runs against totals.

We were still holdig out hope on Sunday night when I talked to Johnny Smith.

If Taiwan won on Sunday, late Eastern time, and they went (3-0) then they would be in the finals.

  3. Taiwan beat the San Jose Blaze 5-3 on Sunday so they go (3-0) in the pool play and they are in the Series Final today.

Taiwan(Chinese Taipei) topped the Proehlific Power 7-6 Friday in the tournament’s very first game, it’s hard but you have to win that first one or someone will sneak past you.

  4. Taiwan beat San Jose 5-3 on Sunday Andy. So they went 3-0 to finish things out and to clinch the spot in the championship finals. That tough 7-6 defeat to Taiwan in the opener for PP proved to the difference. They certainly have nothing to be a shamed of and represented Greensboro and North Carolina well. I’m sure it’s an experience those young men will always remember.
