Home run call from California

A nice season-ending note from Matt Dominguez’ dad, Mr. Fernando Dominguez out in Chatsworth, California on the last game of the seaon for the Greensboro Grasshoppers and their fine third baseman Matt Dominguez.

This shows you the power of streaming the games LIVE by webcast at Ustream TV and GREENSBOROSports.com. Mr. Dominguez said:

Well, it happened again! Long gone, this time by Tommy Hickman. Nice to see that. Nice to see the boys run out of the dugout to greet him at the plate. Nice to wrap up the season with such a bang and, basically, your call of the shot.

Sure, the Hoppers didn’t get as many wins as they would have liked, but it was a pretty young team and they did just fine for themselves. I was just thinking, what the heck am I going to listen to now? As far as Matt coming home, he is actually heading north to Salem, Virginia on Tuesday to hook up with his brother Jason Dominguez and they’ll drive home to Califronia together.

Jason had his truck at Salem during the season.(Jason was a pitcher for the Houston Astros High Class A team, the Salem Avalanche). They want to spend the time together, talking shop, no doubt. They should be in L.A. by the weekend.

Again, many thanks to you and to the very hospitable folks at the ballpark and throughout Greensboro. I’m sure Greensboro and the Grasshoppers always will have a special place in Matt’s heart, being that it was his first real season in pro ball. You take care and I’ll tune in next year, whether Matt is there or elsewhere, to hear you call a couple of Long Gone shots.

****A nice note and a good way to close the door on another season and you can rest assured that Matt Dominguez and Mike Stanton have left their mark on Greensboro and this won’t be the end of the road for them, the sky is the limit for these two kids.*****
