Picks take some dips, but why talk about the slips:Friday night was one heck of a TRIP

The picks fell to (6-3) this week and now for the season the record stands at (32-7) and that’s not all that bad, but Southwest Guilford is going to have to step up and help me out, that loss to Ledford and the Ledford game in general has been a killer for me now over the past two years.

The picks weren’t all that bad but the coverage by our guys out in the field was outstanding. PP44/Joe Barile is in the system and he will be there for us every week and his approach is that of a true professional. Lee had one heck of a write-up and I enjoyed his work more than reading my own, since he has details that I did not know exsisted. Lee is on the inside and he can help us in more ways than one.

We are very proud of the job Doug Cockman did on the SEG/SG game. Doug jumped right in the middle of what was going on down at Southeast, and he was there for what proved to be one of, if not the most exciting win in Southeast Guilford football history. Coach Fritz Hessenthaler told Tom Keller of the N&R after the game and we quote, “That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on a football field.”

Paul Lambeth has been on the heels of Eastern Guilford for much of this season and with Paul in tow, EG is (4-0) on the season, and we hope to have an exclusive GREENSBOROSports.com interview with Paul and Wildcat coach Scott Loosemore here on the site later today. Eastern has been winning big with Paul tracking them, and who knows how far they will go with PTL III in their huddle.

Big Jim Modlin is living large with his old school Ragsdale at (4-0), and we will have them again on radio in two weeks when they travel to Southeast Guilford, to face the Falcons in what might be the Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference championship game, still early in this 2008 season.

Dudley(4-0) at Page(3-1) for next Friday has lost some of it’s luster, but that still has the look of a major matchup and with Northwest Guilford(3-1) at Southeast Guilford(2-1), High Point Andrews(2-0) vs. High Point Central(3-1), and Grimsley(2-2) at Ragsdale(4-0), we still have plenty to keep us busy as we write on in the month of September.

This season is starting to take on an interesting personality with the Metro 4-A battles that are just around the corner. East Forsyth now at (4-0) has the look of a contender and with the man everybody is talking about, DOB(Danny O’Brien), back there at QB, we have something to look forward to as we look ahead. Page-EF, Northwest Guilford is not going anywhere, will Grimsley still be a factor, whose season will HPC ruin? Those are just a few of the burning questions that are on the HOT LIST. Ragsdale at SEG, EG/Reidsville, EG-Southern Guilford, and in the end might we see a late-season get together with RAGSDALE and DUDLEY????? You never know, that one would probably be East versus West to see who is the BEST 3-AA team in the state and with both schools going 4-A next year why not go out with a bang…..

The final touches from last night say High Point Andrews is for real and where is Grimsley right now? HPA winning 45-13 makes a statement, but looking closely what do we read into this one? Northern Guilford is playing lights out and we will stick with them every week until they drop a game and the Nighthawks(4-0) host East Lincoln next Friday. Dudley has out-scored the opposition 76-0 in the past two weeks and Smith is playing better but right now, but their record, nor the scoreboard, would indicate that point for the Golden Eagles.

We better keep our eyes on Northwest as they ran out to a 22-0 halftime lead and then held on to beat Northeast 22-14. The NWG Vikings had 224 yards on 47 carries and they threw for 133 yards through the air, playing this game just 4.5 miles away from the PTI Airport. We talked just bit earlier about the High Point Central loss to Wake Forest-Rolesville 28-6 and the Southwest Guilford Cowboys falling 44-29 to Ledford. HPC no surprise, SWG can you help me out here?

Next Thursday we will come back with for whom the Poll tolls and that Poll is going to change with Ragsdale going up to #2 and Eastern Guilford moving to #3 and again great job by our men on the scene last night with Joe, Lee, Doug, Paul, Big Jim, we had a nice update from Mark and we still need a female to join the team and take us to the next level.

We will take updates on Soccer, Cross Country, Fall Baseball, Volleyball, Basketball; whatever you have, we can use, and you can have your own account at GREENSBOROSports.com and have your stories rise above and head right to the front page.
