Creghan, a 5-9 junior, received the award after placing sixth among 96 contestants at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate. The top non-NCAA Division I finisher, he shot a 72-73-71 for a career-low and even-par 216 over 54 holes to help Guilford place second among 18 teams.

Coach Jack Jensen’s Quakers are ranked 12th in the preseason Golf World/Nike Golf NCAA Division III Coaches’ Poll. Guilford travels to Bryan Park Golf and Conference Center Sept. 29-30 for the Greensboro College Invitational.

The Student-Athlete of the Week Award is presented by Guilford’s SAAC, which is comprised of representatives from each of the school’s 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among the school’s student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a breast cancer awareness promotion, canned-food drives, volunteer assistance with the North Carolina Special Olympics and tutoring at New Garden Friends School.
