Area HS Football for Friday night and the AM950 games tracker

Almost a full Guilford County slate this evening and we will have a complete run-down coming for you with the game Jim mentioned earlier involving the Davie County War Eagles visiting the Page Pirates. We will have that game in it’s entirety on AM950 plus updates on Eastern Randolph at Ragsdale, Grimlsey at WS Reynolds, Southern Alamance at Northeast Guilford and Dudley at Bartlett Yancey. That will give you a good idea of what’s happening on the local HS Football scene and if we can locate other scores of interest we will pass those along to you. Pre-game activitites get under way at 7pm on AM950 and Joe Barile will be there to cover the Page-Davie County game for the site.

Here’s the lineup for tonight with three teams having open dates. Northwest Guilford, High Point Central and Southen Guilford are all off tonight. In action we will have:

Eastern Guilford at Southwest Guilford with (5-0) EG and (0-5) SWG, and how can you pick against the EG Wildcats until they lose one? Eastern over Southwest 35-14.

Dudley at Bartlett Yancey and the Panthers will have no problem winning, the only problem will be staying focused as they go for that (16-0) record at season’s end. Dudley 49-0.

Morehead at Western Guilford where we see that the Morehead Panthers have yet to win a game in five attempts and WG is (2-4) and looking for one more and let’s give it to them, the Hornets over the Panthers 28-13.

North Raleigh Christian at Northern Guilford and look for the Nighthawks to cut out the lights early and the party will be over on Spencer Dixon Road and moving on to the Scarfone’s Loft with NG putting up some points, winning 42-7.

Eastern Randolph at Ragsdale, as we see the ER Wildcats coming in as a decisive underdog and the RHS Tigers the big favorites to go along with their (6-0) record. Ragsdale has been earning these wins and it didn’t all come on the game field. The Tigers are working hard in practice and it shows on Friday night when they come out and finish ball games. RHS to be (7-0) after this one taking care of business to the tune of a 31-14 hard-fought victory.

Southeast Guilford at Trinity, and for a group of Falcons that lost a tough one at home to Ragsdale back on Monday night this game will determine which way their season is going to go. SEG has to move and with the senior leadership from kids like Terracne Topps, Brian Webb and James Peguese they will move on over to face the Trinity Bulldogs and Southeast will get back on track in the Mid-Piedmont Conference with a 21-8 victory over the Bulldogs. Will RB Tivon Clark return tonight for SEG? That would be a big plus for Coach Fritz and the crew.

High Point Andrews at Reidsville, and what did they teach us at the ball-game-picking class over on English Street in High Point, just down the road from Culler’s Store and Haberdashery. They told us to take the unbeaten team until they lose and with Reidsville at (5-0), we will go, with the Rams again to win, 28-13 over HPA.

Southern Alamance at Northeast Guilford where the NEG Rams grabbed a conference win at home over WG back on Monday night and we will give the Rams a boost as SA Patriots coach Daniel Barrow comes back to the school where the fans and parents ran him off back in the mid-80’s and I’m sure the former Ram leader would like to stick it to the Bill Bookout home crowd this evening but we’ll take Tommy Pursley’s 2008 Rams Club 21-15 over Clyde Barrow’s Boys from Alamance County.

North Forsyth at Smith, and I told Smith Golden Eagle assistant coach Dennis White the other night after the Eagles’ loss to WS Carver that the win would come against North and it will. Smith beats North Forsyth tonight 20-13 to put Smith back on track and on the map, at least for one week and the McDonalds at High Point Road and Holden better widen the Drive-thru because the Golden Eagles are coming through the Golden Arches tonight.

Grimsley at Winston-Salem Reynolds and who needs a win in a big bad way? Grimsley, as they close out the non-conference portion of their schedule tonight, with what we will call a Whirlie Win, with the final being GHS 17, WS Reynolds Demons 10.

Davie County at Page, and here we go again. Close games all over the Marion Kirby Complex and the Pirates have to pull one of these out after the touchdown losses 21-14 to Ragsdale and 28-21 to Dudley. The Panthers and Tigers are a combined (12-0) and the War Eagles of Davie County have only lost one game in 2008. Page came up short last year at Mocksville in the road game with DC falling 32-27 or something in that neighborhood, and now let’s put the home-field advantage to good use tonight, with the Page Pirates topping Davie County 31-28.

  1. Trinity gets a 14 – 12 homecoming win over the heavily favored Falcons. This has to be one of the most disappointing losses in quite a long time for the Falcons. Two blocked PAT’s, one missed FG, and too many penalties to count. SEG was minus two key players due to suspensions, but that’s no excuse for losing to a team you blew out the last few years. Tivon Clark was dressed, but didn’t play for the second game in a row. His presence was missed, but I’m not sure that even he can cure what ails the Falcons. The Coaches, Players, Cheerleaders, Falcon Mascot, administrators, teachers, and parents have to asking themselves…..What happened?
