Paul’s pro pigskin prognostications week 5

Last week 10-3 Seasobn 40-19 for the season

This week I see…..

Chicago @ Detroit: The Lions enter the post Matt Millen era (thankfully). They will put together a nice effort, but the Bears are just too tough on the defensive side of the ball.
Chicago 20 Detroit 14

Atlanta @ Green Bay: The Packers have struggled the last couple of weeks. The Falcons are slightly ahead of schedule and actually seem to have the more consistent running game. Logic would say to take the Packers at home, and with Brett Favre this would be automatic. But something tells me to take the Falcons.
Atlanta 21 Green Bay 20

San Diego @ Miami: Was Miami’s win in New England a fluke? Will the Chargers be playing with an extra sense of urgency in light of their slow start. The answer to both is affirmative! San Diego 21 Miami 13

Seattle @ New York Giants: Plaxico Buress is on the shelf for a one week suspension for skipping practive without notice and without being able to be contacted. Something like this will not phase the Giants who have turned over a whole new leaf after last years playoff run from a team that was talented but flaky but whom now is steel eyed in their resolve, That former mantra now belongs to Seattle. NYG 31 Seattle 17

Washington @ Philadelphia: The Skins are surging and riding high after upsetting Dallas. The Eagles are banged up and Michael Westbrook is a game time decision. Sounds like a slam dunk for the Skins eh? Well I don’t quite know about that. McNabb is capable of rallying his troops for a one game situation and the Eagles are going to be a little desperate as a loss here would stick them two games back of the pack. This pains me being a Skins man but… Philly 24 Washington 20

Kansas City @ Carolina: The Cheifs looked stout last week in taking down Denver. Larry Johnson however will find the Panthers defense much less inviting than the sieve that represents Denvers run defense. The Panthers are not great by any means, they just take care of business. Carolina 24 KC 14

Tennessee @ Baltimore: In the words of Jim Ross this one should be a slobberknocker. Strange as it sounds it will be the steady hand of Kerry Collins who will make the difference. Titans 16 Ravens 13

Indianapolis @ Houston: The Colts have struggled out of the gate in losing two of their first three. Look for them to get well against hapless Houston. Colts 30 Texans 17

Tampa Bay @ Denver: In Brian Griese’s homecoming look for him to almost make the Broncos sorry they let him get away. Almost, Denver has too much firepower as Jay Cutler has quickly become one of the better field generals in the league. Denver 31 Tampa 27

Cincinnati @ Dallas: Look for the Cowboys to be in a very bad mood. But if T.O continues to complain about not gettting enough passes thrown his way look for the Cowboys to perhaps trade him in game straight up for Ocho Cinco. In the end the result will be the same. Dallas 35 Cincy 20

Buffalo @ Arizona: This is a very intersting matchup, the proverbial immovable object vs. the irresistable force. Defense wins championships, and Buffalo has plenty. But early in the year sometimes firepower is more into play, this strikes me as one of those instances. Cards in a mild upset. Arizona 31 Buffalo 24

New England @ San Francisco: The Pats have lost their lustre a bit following the debacle against the Dolphins. However don’t underestimate the Hoodie.
Pats 21 49ers 14

Pittsburgh @ Jacksonville; A tasty matchup for your Sunday night! In this one look for pressure on the passers to be the difference. And the Jaguars who have sacked Rothlisburger 11 times in the two meetings between these teams in 2007 look to match up well again with the Steelers who have allowed Big Ben to end up on his backside 15 times already this season. Jags 23 Steelers 17

Minnesota @ New Orleans: I see the Saints marching in, thru and over the Vikings who are seriously struggling. Saints 26 Vikings 17
