Saturday morning rewind:Afternoon edition and how about those picks with the Answer Blowing in the Wind

News 2 says “Get Answers”, and today the answer my friend is blowing in the wind, “The Answer is Blowing in the Wind”.

The answer is in the wind and this day is blowing right by us and the Saturday morning rewind has become the Afternoon Edition. What a game it was last night with Grimsley putting up quite a fight with Page at Jamieson Stadium. Paul T. Lambeth II gave us his recap and I am hoping we see more from Joe Barile before the weekend is over.

There is plenty of interest in this Pirate-Whirlie series and it will be interesting to see how it goes for both teams the rest of the way. Joe has the standings and the schedule for next week and maybe Joe will send us more stats and news on last night’s game. In talking to several Pirate fans last evening, they are liking what they are seeing at this site.

The readers should be liking what they are seeing if they are tracking our picks this season with the record improving to (71-18) after last night’s results. We went (11-0) last night with one game rained out and High Point Andrews will play at WS Reagan on Monday.

You can go ahead and start leaving your congratulatory comments in the box below(I won’t hold my breath), and again Friday night was a perfect (11-0) outing for the site.

Nice effort by Will Newman and Matt Millisor of Page and the entire Page team deserves congrats for the win over Grimsley with the big runs by Will and the key kicks and tackles by Matt among the highlights and Lay Lay Brown had several big runs for Grimsley and I was expecting more from Whirlie FB David Ray.

Great efforts by Southern Guilford in the comeback win over WS Atkins 20-19 with Storm QB Matt Prioleau coming up with the key plays. Similar story for Northwest Guilford as they finally get that elusive win and it wasn’t even close in their 18-3 win over High Point Central. NWG had lost some real close ones and the Vikings earned this one.

Smith led East Forsyth 6-0 after Truth Martin recovered a fumble by Golden Eagle teammate BJ Briley in the end zone when Briley had taken the ball in from two yards out. East Forsyth went on a 51-0 run and won it going away over Smith; EF Eagles 51, Smith Golden Eagles 6. EF quarterback Danny O’Brien was 6-12 for 154 yards and 2 TD’s and he rushed for two touchdowns on runs of 1 and 5 yards.

Western Guilford blanked Rockingham County 40-0 behind two touchdowns on the ground by Brandon Easter and now the Hornets host Western Alamance (8-1/4-0) next Friday. Northeast Guilford had no problems with Morehead blasting the Panthers 41-19 with 406 yards rushing from the Rams’ backfield. NEG had 139 yards from Kenny Rush, 137 yards and 2 TD’s from Michael Sanders and two touchdowns from Rayshawn Trader. Ragsdale rolled over Randleman running out to an early 35-0 lead over the non-Jamestown Tigers and the unbeaten Ragsdale Tigers(9-0/4-0) go on to win 35-3. D’-onovan Smith had three scores for Ragsdale.

Northern Guilford is for real and they sealed the deal again last night with a slick 6-0 victory over North Lincoln. The Nighthawks are (7-1) and the man who used to wear #9 for the Grimsley Whirlies, Keenan Allen, got the quick six on a takeaway TD catch. The Big-Plays keep on coming from Keenan. The WS Parkland ponies pounced on Southwest Guilford as the Mustangs ran away from the Cowboys, 20-7. Alex Harrison had 160 yards and three touchdowns to help Southeast Guilford shut out Southwestern Randolph 28-0.

Eastern Guilford was in front of Reidsville 6-2 but got slammed the rest of the way as the Rams topped the Wildcats 23-6 in Gibsonville. Gerrod Herbin gave EG the advantage on a 39-yard touchdown run, but the Will Gann kick failed. EG now stands at (7-1) with a trip to McMichael coming up next, while Reidsville(8-0) will be at home facing WS Atkns.
