Guilford College’s Mens Golf Leads Halfway Through Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Invitational

OAKWOOD, Ga. (10-20-08) – Guilford College shot a two-over-par 286 to take the lead after Monday’s first round of the third annual Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational Monday at the Royal Lakes Country Club. Junior Brian Creghan (Radnor, Pa./Conetsoga) and senior Burton Wood (Siler City, N.C./Jordan-Matthews (UNC Greensboro)) both shot 70, which ranks fourth among the individual leaders. Junior teammate Peter Latimer was two strokes back after an opening-round 72. Dusty Roberts (Reidsville, N.C./Reidsville) shot 74 and rookie Jeff Boyan (High Point, N.C./Ledford) carded a 77. The Quakers hold a four-shot lead over tournament host Oglethorpe University (290).

Josh Cumming’s three-under 68 has helped his Greensboro College team into fourth place in the 16-team field.
